Walmart Points Expiring

I was telling my sister about that hiking trail we did last weekend and she seemed genuinely impressed that I managed to finish it without stopping. Honestly I surprised myself too because the elevation gain was no joke. I think the key was pacing myself from the start and drinking water consistently rather than waiting until I was already feeling tired. She asked if I would go again and I said absolutely maybe next time with better shoes because my feet were killing me by the end. The view from the top was completely worth it though you could see the whole valley and the clouds looked like they were resting right on the ridgeline. We sat up there for maybe twenty minutes just taking it in. I snapped a few photos but honestly none of them really capture how it felt to be up there breathing that cool air. My legs were sore for two days after but the kind of sore that reminds you you did something good for yourself. She told me about a different trail she found that connects to a waterfall so we are already planning a return trip for next month if the weather holds.

— Your Walmart Team

I tried that new coffee shop on 5th street yesterday and honestly I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was cozy without being cramped and they had this corner with a big window that let in all the afternoon light. I ordered a pour-over and a cardamom bun that was still warm from the oven. The barista recommended the Ethiopian single origin so I went with that and it had this bright citrusy note that I usually only get at the specialty place across town. I sat there for about an hour reading a book I picked up from the library and honestly it was the most relaxed I have felt all week. They also have a small shelf of board games near the back which I thought was a nice touch for people who come in with friends. I might make it my new weekend spot if the crowds stay manageable. The only downside was the parking situation because the lot is tiny and I had to circle around twice before someone pulled out. Next time I will probably walk or take the bus since it is only about fifteen minutes from my place. A friend told me they also do open mic nights on Thursdays so I might check that out next week.
