CVS ExtraCare Reminder

Yeah I finally checked out that trail you mentioned last month. Got there early Sunday around 7am and had the place almost to myself. The weather was perfect cool but not cold. The path wound through some really dense woods for about a mile and then opened up to this wide meadow with wildflowers everywhere. I saw a small herd of deer grazing near the far tree line. Took some photos but honestly they don't do it justice. The total loop was about 4.5 miles and took me maybe two and a half hours with stops. There is a nice stream crossing about halfway with large flat rocks you can sit on. I packed sandwiches and ate lunch there. Definitely going back next month when the fall colors start showing up. Let me know if you want to join next time.

Also I finally bought that lightweight backpack you recommended. It made a huge difference compared to the old one I was using. The padding on the straps is much better and it has this hidden pocket that fits a water bladder perfectly. I think I overpacked a little but better safe than sorry out there.

I tried that pasta dish you sent me last week and it turned out really well. Made a few adjustments though swapped the regular basil for Thai basil since that is what I had in the garden and added a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat. The sauce needed a bit more salt than the recipe called for but that might just be my taste. I used the fresh pasta from that Italian market downtown instead of dried and it made a big difference in texture. Served it with a simple arugula salad on the side with lemon vinaigrette. My partner asked me to put it in our regular rotation so I would call that a win. Thanks for sharing the link. Do you have any other similar recipes you would recommend I am trying to cook more from scratch these days and building up my go-to list.

Also I finally organized my spice cabinet this weekend and realized I had three jars of cumin that expired last year. Threw those out and restocked with fresh ones from the bulk section. It makes such a difference when your spices are actually fresh.
