Yes, I ended up going with the hiking trail near Mill Creek instead of the southern ridge. The weather held up nicely—mostly overcast but no rain. We saw a couple of deer crossing the path around midday. The entire loop took about four hours with a short break for lunch. I heard the southern ridge is still muddy from last week’s storms, so I think we made the right call. Next time we might try the lake route if you’re free on a Saturday. I’ll send you the map link later.

Also, I finally finished organizing the garage shelves. I used those plastic bins with labels—much easier to find tools now. My neighbor asked if I could help him with a similar setup next weekend.

Good to hear from you. I was thinking about that community garden idea you mentioned last week. I checked with the neighborhood association and they said we can use the plot behind the old rec center. The soil there has been fallow for a season, so we’d need to do a quick pH test and maybe add some compost. I spoke with a master gardener at the county extension office—she recommended starting with tomatoes, peppers, and basil since they’re forgiving for beginners. She also suggested a small drip irrigation kit. If you want, I can pick up the test strips this weekend. Let me know what day works for you to go over there together.

Also, I finished reading that book you lent me about urban ecology. Very interesting how green spaces affect local temperature. I’ll return it when we meet.
