Yeah I totally get what you mean. I was helping my neighbor clean out their garage last weekend and we found all these old photo albums from the 80s. The colors had faded so much it was hard to tell who was who in some of the group shots. She laughed about the hairstyles more than anything else. We spent like three hours just flipping through them and reminiscing about block parties and homemade ice cream. I told her she should scan the best ones before they deteriorate further. She said she'd been meaning to do that for years but never found the time. I offered to help her digitize them next Saturday if the weather holds up. It's funny how physical photos feel so much more personal than digital ones even though digital is way more practical. Anyway I said I'd bring my scanner and we could make a little project out of it. She was thrilled about the idea and started pulling out more albums from under the bed. I think we'll need more than one afternoon honestly. There's something really nice about slowing down and looking at old memories without a screen in the way. I'm actually looking forward to it. I'll let you know how it goes.

Honestly I think hiking is one of those things that sounds harder than it actually is. A few of us from the book club decided to try the ridge trail last Sunday and it was nowhere near as tough as people made it out to be. Sure there were a few steep sections and my legs were a little sore the next day but the view from the top was completely worth it. We packed sandwiches and apples and sat up there for almost an hour just talking and watching the clouds move across the valley. One of the girls brought her binoculars and we spotted a hawk circling way off in the distance. I forgot how good it feels to be outside like that without any agenda or rush. We're already planning to do another trail next month maybe one with a lake at the end so we can cool off afterward. I volunteered to bring a blanket and cards so we can hang out longer. It's nice to have something low-key to look forward to that doesn't involve screens or schedules. Anyway I just think more people should try it even if they don't think they're outdoorsy types.
