Yeah I think starting with the layout first makes the most sense for the backyard project. We need to measure the space carefully and mark where the raised beds will go. I already checked the soil quality and it is mostly clay so we will need to amend it quite a bit. The cedar planks should arrive by Friday if we order today. I was thinking we could use a simple drip irrigation system running on a timer to make maintenance easier. For the pathways between beds gravel works better than wood chips because it drains faster and does not attract termites. The whole project should take about two weekends if we work together. Let me know if you want to adjust the dimensions I proposed because I can easily modify the cutting list. We should also consider adding a small compost bin in the corner to recycle yard waste.

For the planting schedule we need to wait until after the last frost date which is usually mid-May in our area. I can start some seeds indoors next week to get a head start on tomatoes and peppers.

The pasta recipe turned out better than I expected. I used a mix of all-purpose and semolina flour which gave the noodles a nice texture. The key is to let the dough rest for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out so the gluten relaxes. I made a simple sauce with San Marzano tomatoes fresh basil from the garden and a pinch of red pepper flakes for warmth. The whole process from start to finish took about two hours but most of that was waiting for the dough to rest. I think next time I will double the recipe and freeze half of the pasta for later use.

I also tried making the filled version with ricotta and spinach and it came out well. The trick is to not overfill the pockets or they will burst during cooking. I used a fork to seal the edges which gave it a nice look. Let me know if you want me to write down the exact measurements because I was mostly going by feel this time around.
