I looked into the trail conditions over the weekend and found that the path along the northern ridge is in good shape this time of year. There are a few sections where recent rain has caused some erosion but overall it is still passable with sturdy footwear. I would recommend wearing boots with good ankle support since the terrain is uneven in spots. The total distance is about eight miles round trip with a moderate elevation gain of around twelve hundred feet. We should plan to start by eight in the morning to allow plenty of time for breaks and to enjoy the scenery. I will pack a lunch and extra layers since the temperature can drop significantly near the summit. There is a stream about halfway along the trail where we can refill water bottles if needed. Let me know if you have any questions about the route or if you would prefer a different trail altogether.
