We finally got around to setting up the drip irrigation system over the weekend. It took a few hours to map out the lines and connect everything to the main spigot, but it's already saving us so much time. I was worried the pressure would drop at the end of the line, but everything seems evenly saturated. The tomatoes are already looking perkier. I think we'll add a timer next week so we can automate the whole thing. Let me know if you want me to send over the parts list we used. It was pretty affordable overall and definitely beats standing out there with a hose every evening. The mulch layer we put down last month also seems to be helping with moisture retention. I was skeptical at first, but the soil underneath stayed cool even during that hot stretch. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're thinking about it.

I've been experimenting with sourdough starter discard recipes lately. The crackers are my favorite so far. You just mix the discard with some melted butter, salt, and seasonings, roll it thin, and bake. They come out so crispy and tangy. Way better than the store-bought versions. I also tried a discard pancake recipe which was pretty good, though the texture was slightly denser than regular pancakes. It might have needed a bit more baking soda. I'm going to try adding an extra egg next time to see if that lightens them up. Let me know if you want the recipe link. By the way, I picked up a new bench scraper and it's made cleaning the counter so much easier. Totally worth the small investment. I also made a batch of granola using coconut oil instead of butter and it turned out incredibly crunchy.
