We have been working on the backyard for the past few weekends and it is starting to come together nicely.

The raised beds are all built and filled with soil. We decided to go with a mix of vegetables this year including tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.

The drip irrigation system was a bit tricky to install but once we figured out the fittings it went smoothly. We also added a small flagstone path that leads to the garden gate.

The kids helped pick out some perennial flowers to plant along the fence line. Still need to figure out what to do about the shed since the roof is showing some wear.

Might try to patch it up instead of replacing the whole thing. My neighbor recommended a good sealant that should hold up through the winter months. Planning to tackle that project next weekend if the weather cooperates.

One per household.

I tried that new pasta recipe you mentioned and it turned out really well.

The trick was letting the sauce simmer for at least an hour to develop the flavors. I added a bit of fresh basil and oregano from the garden which made a big difference.

The recipe called for a specific type of cheese but I used what I had on hand and it worked fine. Next time I might try adding some mushrooms or zucchini to bulk it up a bit.

The leftovers were even better the next day after the flavors had time to meld together. I also made a simple side salad with a lemon vinaigrette that paired nicely with the pasta.

Let me know if you have any other recipes you would recommend. I have been trying to cook more at home and explore different cuisines. The Thai curry recipe you sent last month was also a hit with the family.
