Yeah I think the best approach for the community garden would be to start with raised beds rather than in-ground planting. The soil quality in that area is not great and raised beds give you more control over drainage and nutrient content. You will want to orient them north to south to maximize sun exposure throughout the day. For a first season I would recommend tomatoes basil and peppers since they are pretty forgiving and yield well. You might also consider adding a small compost bin nearby to recycle garden waste into next years soil amendment. Let me know if you need help sourcing materials.

Regarding the book club selection I think we should go with something that sparks discussion rather than just a straightforward read. The last few picks have been a bit too light and several members mentioned wanting more depth. Have you considered something by Rebecca Solnit or maybe a narrative non-fiction work about a historical event. I found that format works well for group discussions because there are so many angles to explore. We could also alternate months between fiction and non-fiction to keep things fresh. What do you think about trying that structure for the next quarter.
