Hey, just circling back on your question about the hiking trail we talked about last weekend. I finally checked the map and the loop around Pine Ridge is actually open again after the maintenance work. A few of us are planning to go Saturday morning if the weather holds up. I'll bring extra granola bars and maybe that portable coffee setup I mentioned. Let me know if you want to join — we're meeting at the south parking lot around 7:30. No rush on gear, I have an extra daypack you can borrow. The views from the top should be worth the early start.

Also, I finally finished putting together that bookshelf I bought last month. Took way longer than expected but it looks solid. I used a level this time so it doesn't lean like the last one did. Anyway, just wanted to share the trail details before the weekend gets booked up.

I saw your message about the community garden plot — I think we should go with the raised bed option near the fence line. The soil there gets good afternoon sun and the drainage is better than the corner spot. I talked to the coordinator yesterday and she said we can reserve it starting next week if we confirm by Friday. I can bring the lumber and some compost if you handle the seeds and starts.

Also, I finally tried that brisket recipe you sent me last month. Smoked it for about 14 hours with a mix of hickory and cherry wood. Turned out pretty decent — the bark was solid and the meat pulled apart clean. I took a few photos to show you next time we catch up. Let me know what you think about the garden plan when you get a chance.

un3Z85JWwaQ Honestly I just started reading that sci-fi trilogy you mentioned and I'm already halfway through the second book. The world-building is incredible — the way they handle time dilation and interstellar politics feels grounded but still wild. I stayed up way too late last night reading the chapter about the cloning facility on Titan. I think you'd really like the main character's arc even if the pacing drags a little in the middle of book one. Let me know if you want to borrow my copy when I'm done. I also picked up a cookbook focused on one-pot meals that is surprisingly good for weeknights when I don't want to wash a bunch of dishes.
