Yeah the trail up to Eagle Peak should be mostly clear by next weekend. I checked the park alerts and they said the lower loop is still muddy but totally passable with good boots. We should start early around 6 AM to beat the afternoon crowds and get a decent parking spot. I will bring the camping stove so we can make coffee at the summit. Let me know if you want to invite Mark or keep it small. I think we should pack light because the last mile is pretty steep. Also bring an extra layer because the wind at the top can be brutal even in late spring. I reserved the permit already just in case they start checking again this year. Let me know what time you want to meet at the trailhead.

I picked up those trekking poles you mentioned and they made a huge difference on the loose gravel sections. We should plan a rest stop at the mid-way lookout point since the views there are usually incredible in the morning light. Make sure your water filter is clean because the stream crossings are running high this season. We can filter enough for the whole group at the lower creek crossing.

The tomatoes are coming along really well this season. I tried that new fertilizer you recommended and the plants are twice the size they were last year. I just need to get them staked up properly before the next storm comes through. The cucumber trellis is set up and ready to go. I think I will add some marigolds around the border to keep the pests away naturally. It has been a lot of work but seeing everything grow makes it worth it. Let me know if you have any extra basil starts because my batch did not germinate well this time around. I plan to water deeply every other morning since the weather is warming up fast. Hopefully we get a good harvest before the real heat sets in.

I also built a small raised bed for the peppers this weekend using some leftover lumber from the garage. I lined it with landscape fabric and filled it with a mix of compost and topsoil. The pepper plants look healthy and I am hoping for a good batch of jalapeños and bell peppers this year. I might try a few habanero plants just for fun if I can find them at the nursery next weekend.
