Thanks for the note about the community garden schedule. We have about eighteen people confirmed so far which should be plenty to handle the workload. I checked with the parks department and they confirmed we can use the plot near the oak tree starting next month. My thought is to divide the space into four quadrants with vegetables in two sections and flowers in the others. Tomatoes peppers and cucumbers will go in the sunniest spots while the shade areas will work well for lettuce spinach and herbs. We still need to arrange for a water source but I think we can run a hose from the nearby shed. I will bring seeds and starter plants if everyone else can help with soil and tools. The first work day is set for Saturday the 12th at 9 AM. Let me know if you want to adjust the layout or if you have other ideas for what to plant. I am open to suggestions on the compost bin location too. We can also set up a rotating schedule for watering so no one has to do it every day. Also I will ask around for extra shovels and gloves in case some people do not have their own. Please let me know if you think we need more volunteers to make this run smoothly.

I looked into the trail conditions for this weekend and everything looks good to go. The loop is about seven miles with some gentle elevation so it should take us around four hours with breaks. I would suggest we start at 7:30 AM to avoid the midday warmth. Bring at least two liters of water per person and some snacks for the trail. The forecast shows partly sunny skies with a slight chance of light rain in the late afternoon so a lightweight jacket would be a good idea. There is a nice overlook about halfway where we can stop and take photos. I will bring a printed map and a compass since phone reception can be unreliable in that area. If anyone wants to carpool we can meet at the lot near the ranger station around 7 AM. Let me know if you would prefer a different route or if you have any concerns about the distance. I am happy to adjust the plan based on what works best for everyone. Also I will bring a small first aid kit just in case. Please confirm if you are still able to join so I can finalize the group size.
