I've been thinking about what you said regarding the best way to propagate hydrangeas. I tried the method you described, dipping the cut end in rooting hormone before putting it in damp vermiculite. So far, so good! I also saw another technique using a simple plastic bag as a humidity dome. It's amazing how resilient plants can be if you just give them a little bit of structure. I'll send you a photo if the leaves start to perk up. Have you ever tried using a heat mat underneath? I heard it speeds things up considerably but I'm worried about drying them out. Let me know what you think when you have a moment.

Yeah, I finally got around to watching that documentary you were talking about. The one on deep-sea ecosystems? It was absolutely mind-blowing how they captured the bioluminescence. The creatures look like something out of a science fiction novel. I started reading the companion book that came out last year, and it goes into even more detail about the sampling methods they used. Totally different from the shallow reef stuff we usually see. Anyway, we should definitely plan a trip to the aquarium next month, they have a new exhibit on jellyfish propagation that looks pretty incredible. Let me know if you are free next Saturday.
