I think the best approach for the chocolate chip cookies would be to chill the dough for at least an hour before baking. That helps prevent spreading and gives you a thicker, chewier texture. For the flour, I usually use all-purpose but you can substitute up to half with whole wheat if you prefer a nuttier flavor. Just add a tablespoon of milk to keep them from drying out.

As for the baking temperature, I'd go with 350°F rather than 375°F. It takes a couple minutes longer but they come out more evenly baked. Also, try browning the butter first and letting it cool before mixing. It adds a caramel note that makes a big difference.

One more thing — if you're using dark cookie sheets, reduce the temp by 25 degrees so the bottoms don't burn. Let me know how they turn out.

Thank you for reviewing this offer. We look forward to providing your selection.

For the backyard project, I'd recommend starting with the soil test kit I mentioned. You can get them at the garden center for about fifteen dollars and they'll tell you exactly what amendments your soil needs. I did this last fall and discovered I needed to add more organic matter rather than fertilizer.

The raised bed layout you described sounds good but I'd rotate the crops so tomatoes don't go in the same spot as last year. Peas and beans actually add nitrogen back to the soil so they're great to plant after heavy feeders like squash.

If you want to start seeds indoors, late March is usually safe for our area. Just use a good seed starting mix and keep them under lights for about fourteen hours a day. You'll want to harden them off gradually before transplanting. Let me know if you need help setting up the lights.
