Yeah I think the birdhouse design you mentioned would work great with cedar instead of pine. Cedar is more weather resistant and has natural oils that repel insects. For the dimensions I'd suggest making the floor about 6x6 inches and the overall height around 12 inches. The entrance hole should be 1.5 inches for most small birds. Make sure to add drainage holes in the floor and ventilation gaps near the top. You'll want to use exterior grade screws rather than nails so it holds up better over time. Also consider adding a baffle to the mounting pole to keep predators away. The roof should overhang the sides by about an inch to keep rain out of the entrance hole. Pre-drilling the screw holes will prevent the wood from splitting especially near the edges. I found that applying a coat of linseed oil helps preserve the wood without using harmful chemicals. Let me know if you need help figuring out the cut list or if you want me to send over a diagram with measurements. I can also recommend a few sources for hardware if you need them. We should plan a weekend to build a few of these together.

For the pasta dough I use a ratio of 100 grams of flour to one large egg which works out to about 3 eggs for 300 grams of flour. Type 00 flour gives the best texture but all-purpose works fine if you add a little semolina. You want to knead the dough for about 8 to 10 minutes until it feels smooth and elastic. Wrap it in plastic and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before rolling. When you roll it out make sure to work through the thickness settings gradually dusting with flour between passes. The dough should be thin enough that you can see your hand through it. For cutting you can fold the sheet into a loose roll and slice it into ribbons about a quarter inch wide for tagliatelle. Fresh pasta only needs to cook for 2 to 3 minutes in salted boiling water. If you're making the sauce ahead of time I'd recommend a simple tomato basil or a butter sage sauce to let the pasta flavor come through. Let me know if you want me to write down the full recipe with exact measurements including the sauce ingredients.
