I just wanted to tell someone about the project I finally finished over the weekend. I have been meaning to reorganize the garage for months, and I finally just went for it. I built a series of modular shelves that perfectly fit the wall space. The woodworking part was not too tricky, but getting everything perfectly level and anchored into the studs took some real patience. I am really happy with how sturdy they turned out. Now I can finally get all the boxes off the floor and have some actual walking space. It feels so much bigger in there. I still need to sand down a couple of edges and add a fresh coat of paint, but the hard part is done. It is really satisfying to make something with your own hands that actually works exactly how you envisioned it. Next up is building a matching workbench on the opposite wall. We will see if I still have the energy for that one.

About the discussion we had at the book club meeting last night, I cannot stop thinking about it. I went in with a pretty clear opinion about the main character's choices, but the conversation really made me see things differently. A couple of people brought up points about the setting and the time period that I had not really considered. It is interesting how a story can change so much just by hearing someone else's perspective. We spent almost an extra hour just debating the symbolism of the old house. I think we all agreed on the quality of the writing, even if we did not see eye to eye on the ending. I already finished the next book for next month, and I am really curious to hear what everyone thinks about it. It is definitely going to spark some strong opinions again. I love that this group challenges me to read things I would not normally pick up on my own.
