I remember that hike we did last spring up near the ridge. The trail was really overgrown in parts and we kept losing the markers. I think we took a wrong turn somewhere around the third mile because we ended up by that old ranger station instead of the overlook. Still a great day though. The weather held up and we found those wild blackberries on the way back. Let me know if you want to try again this weekend. I can pack sandwiches and extra water this time. I think if we leave earlier we can avoid the afternoon heat and maybe actually make it to the summit before lunch. The map I have shows a shorter route on the eastern side that cuts off about a mile. We just have to cross the creek at the fallen log instead of the bridge. I checked the forecast and it looks clear so we should be good. Bring your good boots because that stretch after the meadow gets muddy.

I also wanted to ask about the book you mentioned. I started reading it last night and I can see what you mean about the pacing. The first few chapters feel slow but the world-building is really detailed. I am about a third of the way through now and the main character just reached the old city. I have a theory about what the artifact actually does but I will wait until you finish to compare notes. I borrowed a copy from the library so I have three more weeks to get through it.

Ace Hardware — The Helpful Place

I finally tried that pasta recipe you sent me and it turned out really well. I was skeptical about the sauce because it seemed too thin at first but after simmering for a while it thickened up nicely. I added a bit of extra garlic and used fresh basil from the plant on my windowsill. The whole thing came together in about forty minutes which was perfect for a weeknight. I served it with a simple side salad and some crusty bread. Next time I think I will try adding mushrooms or maybe some roasted cherry peppers for a little heat. Let me know if you have any other recipes you want to share. I have been trying to cook more at home and your suggestions have been really helpful so far. I also finally organized my pantry over the weekend and found three kinds of beans I forgot I had. I am planning to make a big pot of soup later this week to use them up. Let me know if you want me to drop some off. I have way more than I can eat on my own. Also I heard from Jen that the farmers market is starting back up next month so we should plan a Saturday trip. I want to get there early before the good produce sells out. Last year I missed the first few weeks and regretted it. F86GEiMsBXzd I think if we go around eight we will have our pick of everything. Bring your own bags this time because they started charging for the paper ones.
