Yeah I totally see what you mean about the garden layout. I spent last weekend rearranging the pots on the back deck and it made such a difference in how the whole space feels. I moved the herbs closer to the kitchen door so I can snip them easily while cooking and grouped the larger plants together near the railing. The sunlight hits them better there too. I also picked up a few new terracotta pots at the market and repotted the rosemary which was looking a bit cramped. I think the key was giving each plant enough breathing room instead of crowding them all together. I'm already noticing the basil perking up. My neighbor stopped by and asked what I'd done differently because everything looks fuller. I told her it was mostly just moving things around and being a bit more intentional about placement. She's going to try the same thing with her balcony plants. I'm thinking of adding a small water feature next spring nothing fancy just a little tabletop fountain for some background noise. It's nice having a project that doesn't require a lot of money just a little time and attention.

The other thing I tried was painting the old wooden bench a soft sage green and it blends in way better than the tired brown it was before. I used a matte outdoor paint and it took about two coats to get full coverage. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Next up is building a simple trellis for the climbing beans. I found some bamboo stakes at the hardware store and some twine so I think I can put it together in an afternoon. I'll send you a photo once it's up. r10r15 Let me know if you want to come over and see it sometime.

I finally got around to organizing the garage shelves this weekend and it feels like a completely different space. I took everything off sorted it into bins and labeled each one so I can actually find things now. The camping gear went into one big tub the holiday decorations into another and all the spare hardware bits into smaller containers. I also installed a magnetic strip for screwdrivers and pliers which freed up a ton of drawer space. My favorite part was setting up a small workbench area near the window where I can do little repairs without taking over the kitchen table. I used an old solid-core door I had leaning against the wall and put it on two short filing cabinets that were collecting dust in the basement. It's sturdy enough for light woodworking and small projects. I still need to get a better task light out there but overall it's a huge improvement. I found a few things I thought I'd lost including that tape measure that disappeared last spring. It was tucked behind a box of old paint cans.

My brother came over to help and we ended up making a day of it. He brought pizza and we took a break to test out the new propane grill I'd been meaning to assemble. It cooks evenly and the side burner is great for sauces. We sat on the driveway and ate while the sun went down. I'm already planning the next project which is building some simple floating shelves for the living room. I've got the wood cut and the brackets ready just need to find a level and get started. It feels good to finally make progress on all these small things I've been putting off for months.
