Regarding the timing for next weekend's hike, I think starting early around 7 AM would give us plenty of daylight to finish before the afternoon heat sets in. The trailhead has limited parking so arriving early helps avoid that hassle. I checked the weather forecast and it looks clear with mild temperatures in the upper 70s which should be perfect for the full loop. The trail is about eight miles with some moderate elevation gain around the midpoint. We should each carry at least two liters of water and some snacks for the break at the summit overlook. I'll bring the map and a small first aid kit just in case. There are a couple of stream crossings that might be tricky if the water level is up but they are shallow enough to cross without getting too wet. Let me know if you want to carpool from my place or meet at the trailhead.

Also a reminder that the parking pass is required for that area so I can pick one up at the ranger station the day before. The fee is minimal and covers the whole day. I have an extra pair of trekking poles if you need them.

About the volunteer schedule for the community garden next month, I think we should rotate the watering shifts so no one gets stuck with the early morning slot every week. The garden has expanded to twelve raised beds this season so the workload is a bit more than last year. I spoke with Maria and she suggested we create a shared calendar online where everyone can mark their availability. That way we can balance the harder tasks like weeding and harvesting with the easier ones like watering and checking for pests. The tomato crop is coming in strong so we will need extra hands for harvesting on Saturdays. Also the compost bins need to be turned every two weeks and that is a good task for two people working together. Let me know if you have time to help coordinate the sign-up sheet or if you prefer to just pick a slot and show up.

I think having a short team meeting at the start of each month would help everyone stay on the same page about what needs attention. Even a quick 20 minute check-in would make a difference.
