I think the community center idea is really solid for a Saturday morning. We could set up a rotating schedule so different families bring dishes each time instead of one person doing all the cooking. That way it stays manageable and everyone gets to share their favorites. The park near Oak Street has those covered picnic tables which would work great even if it gets a little warm. We should probably send out a sign-up sheet about two weeks ahead so we know how many tables to reserve. I can handle the cold drinks and paper goods if someone else coordinates the main dishes. A few folks mentioned they have portable grills we could use for burgers or hot dogs.

Also the playground equipment there is perfect for younger kids to run around while the adults visit. We might want to bring some extra lawn chairs since the benches fill up fast. Let me know what you think about the date options I listed last week.

For the hiking route I think we should stick with the Ridge Trail loop since it has the best views and isn't too rocky for beginners. The whole loop is about four miles with a gradual incline so it's manageable for most fitness levels. We should plan to start around 8am to beat the heat and give ourselves plenty of time to take breaks at the overlook points. I'll bring trail mix and extra water for anyone who forgets theirs.

Make sure to wear shoes with good grip because there are a few sections near the creek that can get slippery even when it hasn't rained recently. The wildflowers should be blooming along the upper part of the trail so bring your camera if you want. After we finish we could grab lunch at that diner near the ranger station if the group is interested. I've done this trail a few times now and it's always been a great outing.
