Yeah the lasagna recipe you asked about is really straightforward. I start by browning a pound of ground beef with garlic and onion. Then I add a can of crushed tomatoes and let it simmer with basil and oregano for about 20 minutes. For the cheese mix I combine ricotta with an egg some grated parmesan and a bit of salt and pepper. I layer it all with no-boil lasagna noodles and mozzarella on top. Bake it at 375 covered for 30 minutes then uncovered for another 15. The key is letting it rest for 10 minutes before cutting so the layers hold together. I've made it for a few gatherings and it always gets good feedback. Let me know if you need any other details about the timing or amounts.

I usually double the recipe if I'm feeding more than four people. Also you can swap in ground turkey if you prefer a lighter option. The leftovers keep well in the fridge for a few days and actually taste even better the next day after the flavors meld together.

Regarding the raised bed planter question the cedar boards are definitely the best choice for longevity. I went with 2x6 boards for the sides and used galvanized screws to hold everything together. The bed is about 4 feet by 8 feet and 12 inches deep which gives enough room for root vegetables. I lined the bottom with hardware cloth to keep voles and gophers out. For soil I used a mix of topsoil compost and peat moss in equal parts. The tomatoes and peppers did really well last season. Just make sure you place it in a spot with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Watering deeply a few times a week works better than daily light watering.

You can also add a soaker hose along the top edge to make watering easier especially during the hotter months. I mulched around the base with straw to hold moisture and keep weeds down. If you decide to build two beds leave at least 18 inches between them so you can walk through comfortably with a wheelbarrow. Let me know if you want specifics on the spacing for different crops.
