Yeah that sounds like a solid plan for Saturday. I actually took a different trail PwMn8FXLmtksMw last weekend up near the ridge and the view was incredible. We started early around 6:30 and had the whole path to ourselves for the first hour. The leaves are just starting to show color so there were patches of orange and yellow mixed in with the green. It was a good workout too about 5 miles round trip with some decent elevation gain. I packed sandwiches and we ate lunch at the summit. If you go next weekend definitely bring layers because it got chilly once the wind picked up. The parking lot was full when we got back so I guess the secret is out about that trail. Let me know if you want the exact route I can send you the GPS coordinates. There is also a great little diner about 10 minutes from the trailhead that serves breakfast all day. I think you would really enjoy the whole experience.

I finally watched that documentary you recommended about the history of ocean exploration. Honestly I was skeptical at first because I thought it might be too technical but it was really engaging. The footage they had of deep sea vents and bioluminescent creatures was stunning. I had no idea that so much of the ocean floor is still unmapped. The part about the team that discovered hydrothermal vents in the 1970s was fascinating because they basically stumbled onto an entire ecosystem no one knew existed. The scientists did a great job explaining complex ideas without dumbing them down. I ended up watching the whole thing in one sitting. Have you seen the follow-up special about coral reef restoration projects that came out last year? I added it to my list. The cinematography was apparently even better than the first one. Anyway thanks again for the recommendation I would not have found it on my own. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.
