Thanks for your question about the hiking route along the ridge trail. I think starting from the northern trailhead before sunrise gives you the best light through the meadow section. The path is well marked but there is a tricky switchback about two miles in where the gravel shifts. I usually bring trekking poles for that part. The stream crossing near the old pine grove should be manageable this time of year unless we get more rain. I would allow at least six hours round trip with a thirty minute break at the summit. There is a nice flat spot just past the boulders where you can sit and have lunch. Let me know if you want to borrow my gear bag for the trip.

Hand-selected cuts, prepared with care

Gourmet Sampler Announcement

A selection of prime cuts, assembled for those who appreciate quality

Omaha Steaks is reserving 500 gourmet boxes through this program. Each box, regularly valued over $600, is provided at no charge to those who receive this notice. One sampler per household, and the offer concludes Tomorrow.

Every cut in your box is hand-selected and flash-frozen to preserve its flavor and tenderness. Recipients will not be billed for the sampler — the cost is covered as part of this offering.

Inside Your Box

6 Top Sirloins

4 Filet Mignons

4 Ribeyes

4 New York Strips

Quantities are determined by program allocation. One box per household while supplies last.

Thank you for taking a moment to review this offer.

Regarding your question about the best way to organize the community potluck, I think assigning a dish category to each person works well so you do not end up with too many desserts. I would suggest a simple sign-up sheet with columns for appetizers, mains, sides, and drinks. That way everyone knows what to bring and there is a good balance. You might also ask a couple of people to help with setup and cleanup so the host is not doing everything alone. I have found that having a few folding tables ready and some basic serving utensils makes a big difference. The last gathering we did had a nice turnout and the variety of dishes was really impressive. Let me know if you want me to bring a side dish or help with the coordination.
