I think the trailhead on the north side would be better for starting out since the elevation gain is more gradual that way. We could park at the lot near the ranger station and then take the loop that goes past the old fire lookout. It is about six miles total but the terrain is moderate so it should take us maybe four hours or so with breaks. We would want to pack plenty of water and some snacks since there are no facilities once you leave the parking area. The weather looks like it will cooperate so I am optimistic we will have clear views from the ridge. I have not done that particular route before but a few friends recommended it for this time of year when the wildflowers are starting to show. We should aim to start early to avoid the afternoon heat and to give ourselves plenty of daylight for the descent. Let me know if you want to adjust the timing or bring along anyone else from the group.

I have been looking into the community garden plot assignment for this season and it looks like we are confirmed for the larger plot on the south side near the composting area. The soil test came back showing decent pH levels but we will want to add some amendments ahead of planting. I was thinking we could do tomatoes along the fence line and then peppers and herbs in the middle beds. The squash and cucumbers can go on the trellis panels we put up last year. I already ordered seeds from the cooperative and they should arrive by next week so we have time to map out the layout on paper first. If you want to come by this weekend we can walk the site together and finalize what goes where. The watering schedule is every other day unless we get enough rain so we will need to set up the drip system early this time.
