I stopped by that new coffee shop you mentioned last week. The atmosphere was really nice with all the exposed brick and warm lighting. I ordered a pour-over and it came out perfectly balanced. The barista knew exactly what he was doing. They also have this little corner with board games and old books which makes it feel cozy. I ended up staying for almost two hours just reading and people-watching. The music was at just the right volume too not too loud to distract but enough to fill the silence. I think you would really like their cold brew they steep it for 24 hours and it comes out super smooth without any bitterness. We should go there together next Saturday morning if you are free. Let me know what you think. Also they have these little pastries from a local bakery that pair really well with the coffee. I tried the almond croissant and it was flaky and buttery just the way I like it.

The barista recommended a single-origin Ethiopian bean that had these bright citrus notes and a silky finish. I bought a small bag to try at home and it brewed up nicely with my French press. Definitely going back for more.

I finally got around to planting that herb garden I have been talking about. I set up three raised beds along the side of the house where they get morning sun but afternoon shade. So far I have basil mint rosemary and thyme going. The basil is already sprouting which surprised me because I usually kill everything. I watched a few videos vSfOEaNnIeGQQF and finally got the hang of it. The key is not overwatering which is apparently my biggest problem. My neighbor gave me some starter plants for oregano and chives so those are in the ground too. I am hoping to have enough for cooking by midsummer. There is something really satisfying about stepping outside and snipping fresh herbs while I am making dinner. Next I might try tomatoes but I hear those are trickier so I am building up my confidence first.

I also added a small lavender plant near the edge because it smells amazing and apparently it helps keep pests away from the other herbs. The whole area is starting to look really green and alive. I find myself checking on it every morning with my coffee which has become a nice little ritual.
