I think the best approach for the community garden would be to start with raised beds. We have about 200 square feet to work with and raised beds will give us better drainage and soil control. I have been looking at different layouts and I think we could fit four 4x8 beds with enough space between them for wheelbarrow access. The tomatoes should go on the south side where they will get the most sun. For the herbs we could use smaller containers along the fence line. I am thinking we should start preparing the soil this weekend if the weather holds up. We need to get about 15 cubic feet of garden soil and some compost. The local nursery can deliver if we order by Thursday. We should also think about a watering system maybe drip irrigation would be the most efficient. I can bring my tools and we can get the frames built in about two hours if we have enough hands.

One more thing about the layout we need to leave enough room for a small pathway between the beds so we can easily reach everything without stepping on the soil. I measured the space again yesterday and I think we can make it work really well. The fence along the back will be perfect for climbing plants like beans or cucumbers.

Looking at the map I think we should take the coastal route instead of the highway. It will add about an hour to the drive but the views are worth it and there are more interesting places to stop along the way. I have mapped out a few spots where we can pull over and take breaks. There is a nice diner about halfway that serves breakfast all day. We should leave by 6 AM to avoid traffic. I can drive the first leg and then we can switch in the afternoon. Make sure to bring the camera because there are some great viewpoints around the cliffs. I also reserved a campsite near the lake for the first night. They have fire pits and picnic tables so we can cook dinner there. Bring a jacket because it gets cool near the water in the evening.

Let me know if you want to adjust the schedule at all. I was thinking we could also stop at the old lighthouse museum if we have time. It is only about ten minutes off the main road and I have heard the exhibit is really well done. The drive along the ridge should be beautiful in the morning light.
