Hey, I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me. It took a few days longer than I expected to get really bubbly, but this morning it was finally ready. I fed it and used some to make a couple of loaves. They turned out pretty good, not as holey as yours but the crust was really crunchy and the inside was soft. I added a bit of rosemary and sea salt on top. I let the dough proof overnight in the fridge which probably helped the flavor. MVmHSOhP70 was exactly the kind of weekend project I needed. Let me know when you want to swap baking tips again. Anyway, just wanted to share that small win. Hope you're having a great week! I also tried a new pasta recipe from that Italian cookbook you recommended. The sauce came together really quickly and it was perfect for a weeknight dinner.

I also finally finished that woodworking project I was telling you about. It took a lot longer than I thought because I kept making small measurement errors and had to re-cut a few pieces. I built a small bookshelf for the corner of my living room. It's nothing fancy, just pine boards with a dark walnut stain, but it fits the space perfectly. I used some metal brackets for extra support since I plan to load it up with hardcovers. The best part was figuring out the joinery—I used simple dowels instead of nails or screws for a cleaner look. It's really satisfying to see it all come together after staring at a pile of lumber for two weekends. I'm thinking about building a matching side table next, maybe with a drawer this time.
