Yeah I think Mount Mitchell is the best choice for Saturday. The moderate loop takes about two and a half hours but we can adjust the pace based on how everyone feels. I already checked the weather and it looks clear with temps in the mid sixties so conditions should be perfect. We should meet at the main parking lot around 7 AM because it fills up quick on weekends. Bring at least two liters of water per person and some trail snacks. The overlook at the midway point is a great spot for a quick break. After we finish we could grab lunch at that diner on the way back. Let me know if you want to invite anyone else. I already asked Mark and he is in. Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes not just sneakers because some sections get rocky. I have an extra trekking pole if someone needs one. We can also stop at the ranger station to grab a trail map just in case. The elevation gain is moderate so nothing too strenuous for the group. I will bring a small first aid kit as well.

I got the raised bed frames assembled yesterday and they look great. I went with cedar because it lasts longer and looks nicer than treated pine. The dimensions are four feet by eight feet and about twelve inches deep. I filled them with a mix of topsoil compost and peat moss. Planning to plant tomatoes peppers and basil along with some carrots and lettuce. The soil pH tested at around 6.5 which is pretty much ideal for most vegetables. I need to set up the drip irrigation system this weekend before the seedlings go in. I found a good timer at the hardware store that connects to a standard hose bib. The whole project turned out well and should produce enough for us through the summer. If you want some starter plants I can pick up extras when I go to the nursery next week. I am also thinking about adding a small trellis for the cucumbers and beans along the back side of the frame. Let me know if you want to come by and see the setup.
