About the hiking trip details for this weekend — the trailhead is about 45 minutes from town and the full loop is roughly 6 miles with moderate elevation gain. We will need to carry enough water and some snacks for a break at the summit. The forecast shows partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of afternoon showers so a lightweight rain jacket would be a good idea. Parking at the base lot tends to fill early on Saturdays so arriving before 8 AM is recommended. I have the route mapped already and there are several scenic overlooks we should plan to stop at. If anyone needs to borrow gear I have an extra daypack and trekking poles available. Let me know if you think we should stop for lunch on the way back. There is a decent diner about 10 minutes from the trailhead that does good sandwiches and fresh pie. I will send a final confirmation Friday night once everyone confirms their plans. Looking forward to it.

About the living room paint finish — I have been going back and forth on this for a while now. The south-facing wall gets direct sunlight most of the afternoon so I am leaning toward a satin finish because it handles UV exposure better than flat paint. I tested a few samples last weekend and the warm gray with subtle warm undertones really opens up the space without feeling cold. The trim will stay white to keep a clean contrast throughout the room. I am also thinking about adding wainscoting to the lower half of the wall but I need to measure the room height first to see if the proportions work out properly. The flooring is a medium oak tone so the wall color needs to complement that without clashing. I picked up some painter's tape and drop cloths yesterday so I am just about ready to start. I will probably do the prep work this week and begin painting next weekend. Let me know if you have any recommendations for a paint brand that covers well in one coat since I have heard mixed reviews about several of the popular ones.
