Hey, I finally made it out to that trail we talked about last month. The weather was perfect, not too hot and just a little breeze. I ended up taking the longer loop and found this really nice spot by a small creek where I sat for a while. The whole hike took about three hours but it felt much shorter because the scenery kept changing. I forgot to bring enough water though, so I had to ration it on the way back. Next time I'll definitely pack a bigger bottle. There were these really interesting rock formations near the top that I think would make great photos if you're into that kind of thing. I saw a few birds I couldn't identify, probably some kind of hawk circling above. Anyway, I thought you'd enjoy hearing about it since we've been planning to go together. Let me know when you're free and we can head out there. Oh and the funny thing was I ran into a guy who gave me a tip about a shortcut that saved me about twenty minutes on the descent. I think his name was Mike or something like that, super friendly and knew the area well. He mentioned there's a hidden waterfall further upstream that I'm definitely going to find next time. I also stopped by that little diner near the parking lot afterward and had a pretty good burger. The sweet potato fries were excellent, perfectly crispy. nfcHucWFqYo8b If you want I can send you the GPS coordinates I marked along the way. Let me know what you think.

I tried that new pasta recipe you sent me last week and it turned out really well. The sauce was a lot richer than I expected, probably because I let it simmer a bit longer than the instructions said. I added a little extra garlic and a pinch of red pepper flakes which gave it a nice kick without being too spicy. My housemate came down while I was cooking and asked if he could have some, so we ended up sharing it. He said it reminded him of this place he used to go to in Chicago. I paired it with a simple side salad with a lemony vinaigrette and some crusty bread I picked up from the bakery down the street. The whole meal came together in about forty minutes which felt pretty efficient for a weeknight. I think next time I might try swapping the protein for something lighter just to see how it works. The leftovers were even better the next day, which is always a good sign with pasta dishes. I'm planning to make it again next week when my sister comes over for dinner, I think she'll really like it. Let me know if you have any other recipes you've been testing lately, I'm always looking for new ideas to try.
