I was just telling my friend the other day about that hike we did up near Mount Rainier. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky, and the wildflowers were just starting to bloom. We stopped at that little diner on the way back, the one with the homemade pies? Anyway, she was saying she wanted to start doing more outdoor stuff, and I told her she should definitely start small, maybe just day hikes with a good pair of boots. It's so important to break in your footwear before attempting anything too crazy. I remember my first long hike, I got the worst blisters because I thought I could just wing it. Never again. She's looking at getting a proper backpack too, something with good back support. I told her to check out a few different brands and try them on with some weight inside.

It really makes a difference. I'm hoping we can plan a weekend trip sometime this fall when the leaves change color. That's always a spectacular drive. I'll probably bring my camera this time and try to get some decent shots. The views from the summit are incredible if the weather cooperates. We're also thinking about 0beNP7oZaw8H trying a new trail that's supposed to have a waterfall halfway up. I heard it's a moderate climb, nothing too technical, but it would be a good challenge for her first real hike.

Honestly, I've been trying to get better at meal prepping on Sundays. It's one of those things that sounds so simple in theory, but in practice it takes a lot of discipline. Last week I made a big batch of chili, some roasted veggies, and grilled chicken. It made the weekdays so much easier because I could just grab and go. I'm not a natural cook by any means, I mostly follow recipes from this one blog I found. They break everything down really simply. The key I'm learning is to pick one or two things to focus on instead of trying to overhaul your whole kitchen routine at once. Like, start with just getting a good breakfast routine down, then move on to lunches. If I can keep this up for another month, I'll consider it a win. Oh, I also tried making my own salad dressing last week, which was surprisingly easy. Just olive oil, vinegar, mustard, and some herbs.

I'm also thinking about reorganizing my pantry. It's a mess right now, and I can never find what I need. I saw some ideas online where people use clear containers and labels for everything. It looks so satisfying. I just need to carve out a weekend to actually do it. Once that's done, I think the meal prep will get even easier because I'll know exactly what I have on hand. No more buying duplicates of things I already have. It's a small change, but I think it will make a big difference in how smoothly the week goes.
