I think the best approach for the community garden layout would be to use raised beds along the south-facing wall. That way the tomatoes and peppers get maximum sunlight throughout the day. We could build them from reclaimed wood to keep costs reasonable. For the herbs, I would place them along the walkway so they are easy to reach for anyone who stops by. The irrigation lines can run underneath the mulch layer, which should help reduce evaporation during warmer months. Let me know if you would like me to sketch out a rough diagram before we start sourcing materials.

Yes, I already checked with the city about permits. They said as long as we keep the structures under four feet tall we do not need any special approval. The soil test came back fine for the front section, though the back corner might need some amendment before we plant there.

We looked at the patio paver options you mentioned. I think the charcoal gray ones with a smooth finish would look best against the brick on the house. They will not show dirt as much as the lighter options. The supplier quoted about two pallets for the main area, but we may need a third if we extend toward the fire pit. I can call them tomorrow to confirm the availability and schedule the delivery for next week. Let me know if you want me to go ahead with that order.

Oh, and I found a good sealant that should hold up through the winter freeze. It is water-based so cleanup is easier afterward. I will bring a sample for you to test on a spare paver before we commit to the full batch.
