Hey, thanks for the message! I finally got around to fixing that old porch swing we talked about. It needed a lot more than just a fresh coat of paint. The chains were rusted solid, and one of the eye bolts had basically disintegrated. I spent a good hour just getting the old hardware off. Found some heavy-duty weatherproof chains and stainless steel brackets at the hardware store. It was a bit of a puzzle matching the old measurements, but once I got it hung, it actually sits level now. It doesn't creak as much anymore, which is a huge relief. The kids have already claimed it as their reading spot. Your tip about using wood sealant on the bottom edges was a game-changer. I would have totally skipped that and ended up with rot again next season. Thanks again for the advice, and let me know if you want to come try it out with a cup of coffee this weekend! tPNSSLPO8oQJy I think we'll be around on Sunday afternoon. We can make some lemonade and just relax in the yard while the kids play.

We finally started planning out the backyard garden layout. The idea is to create distinct zones for veggies, herbs, and just a bit of lawn for the kids. I spent way too long looking at different raised bed designs online before settling on simple cedar boxes. They're not the cheapest option, but they'll hold up better than pine. I'm also debating whether to put in a small gravel path down the middle. It would keep things tidy, especially after it rains. My main concern is the sunlight pattern. The big oak tree in the corner throws a lot of shade in the late afternoon, so I'm mapping out where the sun hits throughout the day to decide exactly where to place the tomato beds. Apparently, they need at least six to eight hours of direct light. I might have to trim back a few lower branches on the oak to make it work. It feels like a massive project right now, but breaking it down into steps makes it manageable. First up is building the beds this weekend. I also need to figure out an efficient watering system so I don't spend all summer dragging a hose around. Drip irrigation seems like the way to go, but it means another trip to the store for fittings and tubing. I'll send you a photo once we get the layout marked out.
