Thanks for asking about the raised bed plans. I think the cedar option works better than pine because it resists rot longer. For a 4x8 bed you will need about 12 cubic feet of soil mix. I usually do one third compost, one third vermiculite, and one third peat moss. The tomatoes should go in after the last frost date which is usually mid May in our area. I found a good source for organic compost at the garden center on Miller Road. They also carry the wire cages I mentioned. If you want to start seeds indoors you should begin about six weeks before transplanting. The pepper varieties you showed me look great especially the bell peppers. Just make sure they get plenty of light once they sprout. I can help you set up the irrigation system if you need it. The soil temperature should be at least 60 degrees before planting. I also recommend adding a layer of mulch to retain moisture and keep weeds down. Let me know if you want to coordinate a trip to the garden center this weekend.

The trailhead is about three miles past the ranger station on the left side. There is a small parking area that fits maybe eight cars. The full loop is around six miles with moderate elevation gain. I would recommend starting early to avoid the afternoon heat. The views from the ridge are worth the climb especially in the morning when the light hits the valley. We saw deer and a few different bird species last time. Good hiking boots with ankle support are a good idea since some sections are rocky. Bring at least two liters of water per person and some snacks. There are no facilities on the trail so plan accordingly. The map shows a shortcut that cuts off about a mile if you need it. Let me know if you want to borrow my trekking poles. I also picked up a new first aid kit that fits in a small pouch. The weather forecast looks clear for Saturday so that seems like a good day to go.
