I think the trail you mentioned is a good choice for this weekend. The elevation gain is moderate and the views at the top are worth the effort. You will want to bring plenty of water and some snacks for the hike. The parking lot tends to fill up early on Saturdays, so arriving before 8am would be a good idea. If you want a shorter option, there is a loop trail that cuts off about two miles and still gives you a nice view of the valley. The weather forecast looks clear so it should be a good day for it. Let me know if you want to carpool. I can bring my cooler with some drinks and we can stop for lunch afterward at that place near the highway. The trail conditions should be good this time of year with minimal mud.

I finally finished that novel you recommended and I have to say the character development was really well done. The way the author wove together the different perspectives gave the story a lot of depth. I especially liked the chapters set in the coastal town. The pacing was a bit slow in the middle sections but the ending tied things together nicely. If you enjoyed that one you might like the authors earlier work which has a similar style but is set in a different time period. I can lend you my copy if you have not read it yet. Let me know what you thought of the ending. I found the final chapter to be quite moving and it gave me a new appreciation for the whole narrative arc. There were a few moments that felt a little rushed but overall it was a solid read.
