I've been experimenting with sourdough starter for the past few weeks and it's been quite the journey. I started with just flour and water following a friend's recommendation and honestly I wasn't sure I'd be able to keep it alive. But it's been surprisingly resilient. I feed it every morning now and it's developed this nice tangy aroma. Last weekend I finally baked my first loaf that actually looked like real bread with a decent oven spring and a crispy crust. My family ate it within hours so I'm calling that a success. I'm already planning my next batch maybe trying a higher hydration dough r8DWLFHo8j2r or adding some seeds. The process is really meditative once you get into the rhythm of it. There's something satisfying about creating bread from just three ingredients. Anyway just wanted to share my little baking adventure. Hope you're doing well.

I've also been reading about different fermentation techniques and how they affect flavor profiles. It's fascinating how much the timing and temperature change the outcome. My next goal is to try a cold overnight proof to see if I can get that artisanal bakery quality at home.

A friend recommended a documentary series about marine biology and I finally started watching it last night. I wasn't expecting much to be honest but I got completely absorbed. The cinematography is stunning they captured footage of deep sea creatures I didn't even know existed. There's this segment about bioluminescent jellyfish that was absolutely mesmerizing. The show also covers how ocean currents work and how they affect global weather patterns which I found way more interesting than I thought it would. I ended up staying up way too late watching three episodes in a row. The narrator has this calm soothing voice that makes even complex topics easy to follow. I think you'd enjoy it if you're into nature documentaries or ocean science. Let me know if you want the name of the series. I can send you the link. I'm planning to finish the rest this weekend.

I also started sketching some of the marine life I saw in the show just for fun. It's been years since I drew anything seriously but the shapes and colors of those deep sea creatures are really inspiring. Might try watercolors next.
