Yeah I finally got around to trying that new hiking trail near Pine Ridge last weekend. The elevation gain was no joke but the view from the summit was absolutely worth it. We started around 7 AM to beat the heat and the morning mist was still hanging over the valley. Saw a couple of deer on the way up which was pretty magical. The trail was well maintained with clear signage so navigation wasn't an issue. Packed light but brought extra water and some snacks. Made it to the top in about two hours and spent maybe forty minutes just taking photos and enjoying the quiet. The descent was tougher on the knees than I expected but overall it was a solid day outdoors. Thinking of going back next weekend with a few friends who haven't been there yet. Might try the longer loop next time. The weather held up perfectly and we didn't run into any bugs which was a bonus.

I finished that podcast series about urban planning and honestly it changed how I look at my own neighborhood. The host interviewed city planners architects and community organizers about walkable cities and public space design. One episode focused on how small parks and green spaces affect mental health and social connection which I found super interesting. Another episode covered transportation infrastructure and how bike lanes and pedestrian friendly streets reduce traffic accidents. I started noticing details on my daily walk like bench placement and crosswalk timing that I never really thought about GkCxDVH21zI5HE before. The production quality was solid and the interviews felt genuine not scripted. I'm already searching for similar content because the topic really clicked with me. If you're into learning about how cities work I'd definitely recommend giving it a listen. The whole series runs about eight hours total and each episode stands alone so you can jump around based on what interests you most.
