Hey, I just got back from the hike we talked about last week. The trail was a bit muddier than I expected, but the weather held up nicely and we only got sprinkled on once near the summit. There was a section where the path basically disappeared and we had to scramble over some damp rocks, which was actually kind of fun once we got into it. We stopped for lunch at this little clearing that had a decent view of the valley below. I packed sandwiches and fruit, nothing fancy, but after three hours of walking it all tasted amazing. On the way down we passed a couple of folks who were setting up camp near a small stream, which looked like a solid spot for an overnight. I should probably invest in better boots soon because my feet are still sore NOVtKxsz6t7 even after a good night's sleep. Anyway, let me know if you want to try that other route next weekend, the one that goes around the lake. I think it's about the same distance but with fewer steep sections. I might bring a change of socks this time too. Hope your week is going alright.

I finally got around to reading that article you sent about urban gardening on balconies. It was way more practical than I thought it would be. The part about using vertical trellises for tomatoes and cucumbers really clicked with me because I've been struggling with space on my patio. I also liked the tip about self-watering containers using recycled bottles, which seems like an easy weekend project. I might try starting with herbs first, maybe basil and mint since they're supposedly harder to mess up. The article mentioned that even small spaces can produce a surprising amount if you plan the layout carefully. I've already got a couple of pots ready and I think I'll pick up some soil this weekend. There was also a section on companion planting that I skimmed, something about pairing certain plants to deter pests naturally. I'm not sure how deep I want to get into it yet, but it's cool to know there are options beyond just buying everything at the store. Let me know if you've tried any of it yourself.
