Yes, I think the best route would be to take the northern trailhead and follow the ridge line east. The elevation gain is moderate, around 800 feet over about two and a half miles, but the views at the summit are worth the effort. You will want to start early, ideally by 6:30 AM, to avoid the heat and the afternoon clouds that tend to roll in. I would also suggest packing plenty of water, a light layer for the top, and some high-protein snacks. The trail surface is mostly packed dirt with some loose rock near the switchbacks, so sturdy footwear is a good call. If you are bringing anyone who is newer to hiking, the pace can be adjusted easily, and there are several good rest spots along the way. Let me know if you want to coordinate carpooling.

I tried the sourdough starter recipe you sent last week, and it turned out better than I expected. The key was letting it rest at room temperature for about 14 hours instead of 12, which gave it a much better rise and a slightly tangier flavor. I used a mix of white bread flour and a small amount of rye flour for the feeding, and that seemed to help with the activity level. For the baking step, I preheated the Dutch oven for a full 45 minutes, then dropped the temperature by 25 degrees halfway through. The crust was crisp and the crumb had a nice open structure. If you want, I can share the exact hydration ratio I settled on. It was around 78 percent, which kept the dough manageable without being too sticky.
