I finally watched that film you recommended last week. Honestly, I was skeptical at first because the premise sounded a bit ordinary, but it really grew on me. The cinematography was stunning and the lead actor delivered a really nuanced performance. The pacing was a bit slow in the middle act but the payoff at the end made it worthwhile. I can see why you thought I would enjoy it. The themes around resilience and personal growth were handled with subtlety rather than being preachy. Have you seen anything else from that director? I would be curious to explore more of their work. The score was also quite memorable and I found myself humming it days later. Anyway, thanks again for the recommendation. I might rewatch it with a friend who I think would also appreciate it.

The ending especially resonated with me because it didn't tie everything up in a neat little bow. It left room for interpretation which I always appreciate. A few scenes felt slightly drawn out but overall the storytelling was tight and engaging. I noticed some clever foreshadowing on a second viewing that I missed the first time. The supporting cast was also excellent which made the world feel fully realized.

If you have any other suggestions in a similar vein I am all ears. I trust your taste after this one.

I spent the entire weekend working on the backyard and I am honestly exhausted. The weather was perfect so I decided to finally tackle that overgrown corner near the fence. Pulled out all the weeds and trimmed back the bushes that were getting out of control. I also planted some new perennials that should add color through the summer months. Found a great deal at the local nursery on some lavender and salvia which apparently attract pollinators. The soil needed quite a bit of amendment since it was pretty compacted. Mixed in some compost and peat moss to improve drainage. I still need to lay down some fresh mulch and install a small border to keep everything tidy. The neighbors stopped by to admire the progress which felt nice. Hoping to finish the last details next weekend before the weather turns.

I also discovered a hidden patch of mint that had spread under the deck which explained the nice smell every time the breeze picked up. Transplanted some of it to a contained bed because I know how aggressive it can be. The local bird activity has increased noticeably since I cleared out the dead brush which is a welcome bonus. I am considering adding a small water feature just to make the space feel more tranquil. Still undecided on the design though because I want something that fits the natural look rather than something overly formal.

A friend suggested native wildflowers as a low maintenance ground cover so I am researching which varieties work best in this climate. The project has been good for getting outside and disconnecting from screens for a while. Definitely feeling sore but satisfied with the progress.
