Thanks for your note about the neighborhood potluck next Saturday. I think a baked ziti with Italian sausage would be a solid choice—it travels well and stays warm in a covered dish. I usually par-cook the pasta so it doesn't get mushy, then finish it in the oven with plenty of mozzarella and a light dusting of Parmesan. Let me know if you want me to bring a side salad as well. I can do a simple arugula with shaved Parmesan and a lemon vinaigrette that holds up for a couple hours. Also happy to arrive early if you need help setting up tables or arranging the serving line. Just let me know what time things start and I'll coordinate with Jenna to make sure we're not doubling up on desserts. She mentioned she was thinking about a fruit cobbler, which sounds perfect for late summer peaches.

Regarding the seating chart, I think we can put the folding tables end to end along the patio. I have six camp chairs and two folding benches that we can bring. The kids can sit on the steps or on blankets if the grass is dry. Let me know if you want me to grab extra napkins or cups— I have a bulk pack of both from the last cookout.

Talk soon and happy to help however needed.

Yes, I think Wednesday around 6:30 works well for the cookout prep. I'll pick up the brioche buns and a couple bags of charcoal on my way over. For the slaw, I usually do a vinegar-based one with shredded cabbage, a little carrot, and a touch of honey—keeps it light and doesn't get soggy. If you want, I can also bring a batch of grilled corn with lime and cotija, which always goes fast. Let me know if anyone has dietary restrictions so I can plan accordingly. Also, I still have that portable speaker if you want music on the patio. Just send me the address again and I'll plug it into my GPS.

As for the timing, I think firing up the grill around 7 would give us enough time to cook burgers and sausages before dark. I can bring a couple of extra platters so serving is easy. If you need me to grab ice or drinks, just text me the list. Looking forward to it—should be a nice evening if the forecast holds.
