Hey, thanks for checking in. The hike was amazing but tougher than I expected. We started at the trailhead around 6 AM to beat the heat. The first few miles were relatively flat, winding through a dense pine forest with a few creek crossings. The wildflowers were out in full force, which was a nice surprise. Around the 5-mile mark, the real climb began. It was steep and rocky for about 2 miles straight. Definitely tested the legs. Made it to the summit just before noon. The view was absolutely worth it — could see for miles with hardly any haze. We hung out up there for about an hour, had lunch, and took a bunch of photos. The descent was rough on the knees though. Took us about 4 hours to get back down. All in all, about 12 miles and 8 hours of hiking. I'd do it again, but maybe with more training next time. Let's grab coffee this week and I'll show you the pictures.

Oh, the recipe turned out great! I was a bit nervous since it was my first time making it from scratch. The key was really taking the time to let the flavors develop. I ended up adding a bit more garlic than the recipe called for, which gave it a nice kick. The sauce was simmering for about an hour, and the whole house smelled incredible. We served it with some fresh crusty bread and a simple side salad. The bread was perfect for soaking up the extra sauce. My partner was really impressed, which is always a bonus. We had leftovers the next day, and honestly, it tasted even better. I think the extra time letting it sit in the fridge really melded the flavors together. I'm definitely going to put this into the regular rotation. It was surprisingly simple once I got all the ingredients prepped. Let me know if you want the link to the recipe — happy to share it.
