Thanks for the note about the kitchen renovation. I was talking to the contractor today and he mentioned the countertops we picked should arrive by next Tuesday. The backsplash tile samples you sent over look great. I think the matte finish would work better with the cabinet handles we chose last week. Let me know if you want to stop by the showroom this weekend to look at the lighting fixtures. We still need to finalize the island pendant and the under-cabinet strips. The paint colors are all selected except for the breakfast nook. I was leaning toward a warmer tone there since it gets afternoon sun. Also the contractor asked about the sink placement relative to the window. He wants to make sure the faucet clears the sill when fully raised. I measured it last night and I think we have about three inches of clearance which should be fine. Let me know your thoughts on all this.

We also need to decide on the hardware pulls for the cabinets. The brushed nickel ones we saw at the供应 showroom were nice but I am wondering if the oil rubbed bronze would match better with the faucet we ordered. The contractor mentioned he needs the final decision by Thursday so he can place the order. Let me know if you want to swing by the store together after work tomorrow.

Omaha Steaks
Hand-selected cuts, prepared with care

A Selection of Gourmet Steaks, Arranged for You

Omaha Steaks has prepared 500 samplers — each valued over $600 — available at no charge to participants. One sampler per household. Offer ends Tomorrow.

View your sampler details

Each sampler includes hand-selected cuts that are flash-frozen to preserve their tenderness and flavor. The program covers the full cost of the box for qualified recipients, so you will not be billed for the sampler. One sampler is available per household, and the offer concludes Tomorrow.

Inside your box, you will find a curated collection of four steak varieties, chosen to offer a range of textures and profiles. These are the same cuts that have made Omaha Steaks a trusted name for generations.

Inside Your Box

4 Ribeyes

4 Filet Mignons

6 Top Sirloins

4 New York Strips

Quantities are determined by program allocation. Each box is normally valued over $600. Offer ends Tomorrow.

Thank you for your interest in this selection.

Regarding your question about the raised garden beds, I think the cedar planks will hold up better than pine in our climate. I treated mine with a natural oil finish last spring and they still look good. The soil mix I used was equal parts topsoil compost and perlite which gave me good drainage. I planted tomatoes peppers and basil in the first bed and they did well. The second bed I used for carrots radishes and lettuce. The key is to water consistently especially once the plants are established. I also added a drip irrigation system which saved me a lot of time. If you decide to go with two tiers make sure the lower tier gets enough light. I had to move one of my beds last year because the fence cast too much shade. The hardware store on Main Street has a good selection of untreated lumber and they will cut it to size for you. Let me know if you need help assembling the frames.

I also wanted to mention that I found a good source for organic compost at the nursery on Oak Avenue. They sell it in bulk by the cubic yard which is much cheaper than the bagged stuff. For a 4x8 bed you will need about one cubic yard to fill it properly. I made the mistake of buying too little the first time and had to make a second trip.
