Yes,
Yeah I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me last month. It took a couple of tries to get the hydration right but the third loaf came out really nice. The crust was crackly and the inside had those irregular air pockets you want. My family ate the whole thing in one sitting. I’m going to keep feeding the starter and try a cinnamon raisin version next weekend. Let me know if you have any tips for keeping the starter more active in cooler weather because my kitchen tends to drafty in the mornings. cusNN2gKjZhXLX I also picked up a bench scraper which made shaping a lot easier. Anyway thanks again for the recommendation it’s been a fun project.

I saw your message about the community garden plots opening up for spring registration. I volunteered last year and it was a really rewarding experience even though I only grew tomatoes and basil. The soil there is quite rich because they compost all year round. If you decide to sign up I’d recommend going for the raised beds near the fence because they get afternoon shade which helps in July. The coordinators usually host a seed swap in early March so keep an eye on the notice board. I might sign up again if my schedule allows because having fresh herbs on hand made cooking so much more enjoyable.

I tried that new park trail you mentioned and it was exactly what I needed after a long week. The loop is about three miles with a gentle incline and there is a bench halfway that overlooks the creek. I saw a heron standing in the shallows which was a nice surprise. The trail is well marked and mostly shaded so even on warmer days it feels cool. I think you would enjoy the section near the old bridge where the wildflowers are starting to bloom. I plan to go back next Saturday morning if you want to join. Just let me know and I can pick you up on the way.
