Oh I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me last month. It took three tries before I got a decent rise but the third one is actually pretty good now. I fed it this morning and it doubled in size within a few hours which felt like a small victory. I ended up baking a small loaf yesterday and it had a nice crust and chewy crumb. Not as airy as yours but definitely edible. I think my kitchen is too cold so I moved it to the top of the fridge where it seems happier. My kids keep asking if they can eat the starter itself which I had to explain is not a good idea. Anyway I am planning to try a cinnamon raisin version this weekend if this batch cooperates. Let me know if you have tips for keeping it from getting too tangy. I also finally watched that documentary you recommended about the pottery studio in Japan. It was beautiful and now I want to try throwing clay even though I know it is way harder than it looks. aGHbV2tAdYp7iP I signed up for a beginner class at the community center next Tuesday. The instructor said we start with pinch pots which sounds manageable. Hope you are doing well and that your garden is surviving the heat. We lost a couple of tomato plants but the peppers are thriving which is a nice surprise.

Hey thanks for asking about the book I mentioned last week. I finally finished it last night and honestly I have mixed feelings about the ending. The first two thirds were really gripping and I loved the way the author built tension through the alternating timelines. But the final chapter felt a little rushed like they had a page limit and needed to wrap everything up quickly. I still think it is worth reading though because the character development is some of the best I have seen in a while. The main character reminded me a bit of that person we used to work with who always had a plan for everything but then life got in the way anyway. I started another one by a different author set in the same region and so far it has a completely different vibe more lyrical and slow paced. I am not sure yet if that is what I am in the mood for but I will give it another fifty pages. Also I finally tried that pasta recipe you told me about with the lemon and capers and it was fantastic even my picky eater asked for seconds so that is a win. Let me know if you have any other weeknight dinner ideas because I am stuck in a rotation of the same five meals and everyone is getting bored.
