hey! sorry i didn't get back to you sooner. the weekend trip was exactly what i needed. we ended up hiking about eight miles total and the view at the top was absolutely worth every step. i forgot how good it feels to just unplug for a couple of days. the cabin had no service and honestly it was a relief. we cooked all our meals on a little camp stove and played cards by lantern light. i think we are going to try to make it a monthly thing if we can coordinate schedules. let me know if you would be interested in joining next time. the more the merrier and it is always better with a bigger group. anyway hope you are doing well and we should catch up properly soon. let me know what you think.

so i finally decided to try making that sourdough starter everyone keeps talking about. day one was simple enough just flour and water but day two it already smelled a little funky. i kept feeding it like the tutorial said and by day five it was actually bubbling. i made my first loaf over the weekend and it turned out way better than i expected. the crust was crunchy and the inside was soft. my roommate said it tasted like the bakery loaves downtown so i am calling that a win. i think i am going to try adding some rosemary and garlic to the next one. anyway if you have any tips let me know because i am still figuring out the timing. hope you are having a good week and talk soon.
