I think we should finalize the route for Saturday. I checked the trail conditions and the loop around the lake is open but there might be some muddy patches near the north end. The weather looks decent with partly sunny skies and a high around 68 degrees. I was thinking we could start around 8 in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat. My car can fit four people comfortably including gear so that should work for the group. We need to bring plenty of water since there are only a couple of spots to refill along the way. I will pack some sandwiches and snacks for everyone. Let me know if anyone has dietary restrictions I should account for. The whole loop is about 8 miles with moderate elevation gain. We should plan for about 4 to 5 hours with breaks included. I have a map I can share and the trail markers are well maintained so we should not have trouble navigating. If we finish by early afternoon we could grab lunch at that diner near the trailhead.

I finished reading that novel you recommended and I have to say the character development was really well done. The way the author built the backstory through alternating chapters kept me engaged throughout. I did find the middle section a bit slow but the last hundred pages made up for it. The themes about community and resilience resonated with me. I have been thinking about how the main character handled that situation with the old farmhouse and it reminded me of that place we visited last fall. I am planning to start the sequel this weekend. Let me know if you want to borrow my copy when I finish. There is a discussion group meeting at the library next month and I might attend to hear other perspectives. I also heard the author is doing a reading at the bookstore in town next quarter which could be interesting. Have you read any of their earlier works I should look into next?
