I was thinking about what you mentioned yesterday about the garden project.=
I finally got around to checking the soil pH in the raised beds and it's l=
ooking more balanced than I expected. The tomatoes should do well there onc=
e we get them started. I also found some really nice mulch options at the l=
ocal nursery that aren't too expensive. Let me know if you want to come by =
this weekend and take a look at the setup. I think you'll be pleasantly sur=
prised by how much sun that corner gets now that we trimmed back the maple =
tree branches. Anyway, just wanted to share that update with you since you =
were asking about it last week. I also picked up some seeds for companion p=
lanting that should help with pest control naturally.

Have you ever tried growing marigolds alongside your vegetables? I read tha=
t they deter certain insects and the bees love them. I'm planning to put a =
border around the entire bed this season. The soil temperature is finally w=
arm enough to start transplanting the seedlings I started indoors last mont=
h. They're looking sturdy and I'm hopeful for a good harvest this year.

Have you seen any good documentaries lately? I finally watched that one abo=
ut deep sea exploration that you recommended and it was absolutely fascinat=
ing. The footage of the bioluminescent creatures was something else entirel=
y. I had no idea there were so many species living at those depths that we =
still know almost nothing about. It really makes you think about how much o=
f the natural world remains unexplored. My kids were captivated by it too, =
which was a nice surprise. They've been asking all sorts of questions about=
marine biology since then. I might look into getting them a simple aquariu=
m setup so they can observe some marine life up close. Nothing too complica=
ted, just a small tank with some easy-care species.

We also started a small indoor herb garden on the kitchen windowsill last w=
eekend. The basil and chives are already sprouting and the kids love checki=
ng on them every morning. It's been a nice little project that gets everyon=
e involved and excited about growing things. The cilantro is taking a bit l=
onger but I'm told that's normal for this variety.
