I think the hiking trail we took last weekend was really beautiful. The wildflowers were just starting to bloom along the edges and the view from the top was incredible.

We stopped for CB66o47rYQ4 lunch near the old oak tree and just sat there enjoying the quiet for about an hour. The weather was perfect, not too hot and just a light breeze. I brought my camera but barely used it because I was too busy taking in the scenery.

If you want to go again next month, I'd love to join. We could try the northern loop this time, I heard the foliage is lovely in early fall. Let me know what you think. The trailhead is about 45 minutes from town and there's plenty of parking even on weekends.

We saw deer on the way back down, which was a nice surprise. I'm thinking of going again next Saturday if the forecast holds up. Actually I forgot to mention that we also found a small creek along the path where we could refill our water bottles. The water was clear and cold, perfect for a hot day. I'll bring a filter next time just to be safe. Anyway, thought you might enjoy knowing about this spot.

I tried making sourdough bread from scratch last week and it turned out better than I expected. The starter took about a week to get active enough but once it was ready the whole process felt very rewarding.

I followed a simple recipe online and used whole wheat flour for half of the batch. The crust came out nice and crispy while the inside was soft and airy. My family ate almost the entire loaf in one sitting.

I'm planning to try a different recipe this weekend, maybe adding some seeds and herbs to the dough. The key thing I learned is to be patient with the fermentation time. Let it rise slowly and the flavor develops much more. I also found that scoring the top with a sharp blade helps control how the bread expands in the oven.

If you're interested I can send you the link to the recipe I used. It's surprisingly easy once you get the hang of it. I think the trick is to keep the dough a bit stickier than you'd expect and use a Dutch oven for baking. The steam trapped inside gives it that professional bakery look. Anyway, just thought I'd share since you mentioned wanting to try baking. Let me know if you want to come over and give it a shot sometime.
